Supporting Aircraft Development, Including a Ducted Fan for a Large Drone
Toray Carbon Magic supported the development of a lightweight CFRP airframe to maximize engine performance. In addition, we supported the development of a ducted fan, whose rotating parts are protected by ducts, unlike exposed helicopter rotors. This contributed to resolving weight reduction and safety issues. In addition to basic aircraft design, including strength and rigidity analysis, we supported the development of the entire aircraft structure, including analyzing and evaluating the natural frequencies that are a challenge for drones, and considering a folding mechanism to reduce volume during transport. In addition to manufacturing CFRP parts, we also manufactured and arranged for the entire structural components, including metal parts and imported components. The aircraft structure was delivered fully assembled, and if any issues arose during operational testing, we responded by fabricating additional parts or considering and manufacturing modified specifications as appropriate. We also provided post-delivery development support to ensure smooth test and evaluation. In addition to the aircraft itself, we also supported development from an operational perspective by considering and manufacturing transport jigs and maintenance carts.
